#SWYS19 Speaker Alert - Meet Kamal Cudjoe! He is a fitness entrepreneur in the South Florida area. He owns 3 gyms, a smoothie shop and a buzzing online influencer profile (@tailoredfitness12). On a daily basis, he helps, motivates and influences more than 150 women to live healthier and happier lives. Communicating the importance of health to others is not as simple as it sounds. He believe that it is important to create examples, pull from personal experiences and be relative to your audience.

His professional goals align with BGR! as he has committed the last 7 years of his life helping solve health and fitness problems for over 2100 unique women of carribean-American & African-American descent. He believes he has a unique ability to make health and fitness very simple to understand. A workshop designed to disprove the most popular reason for not living a healthy lifestyle - “I don’t have time”. As a child in New York, I watched my grandmother cook fresh, whole foods each day not only for our family, but for neighbors all over Long Island as well. Witnessing the sharing of healthy food, homeopathic remedies and recommendations for traditional medicine. I learned at an early age that love, care, community and wellness are integral parts of the same system.

In 2010 I founded Robinson Nutrition Group to ensure that the scope of my work encompasses social justice as it relates to nutrition, health and wellness. I engage clients to build personalized, culturally relevant and sustainable regimens to help them meet their health goals. With over twenty years of progressive experience, I apply theories of behavioral change to create and implement comprehensive plans for holistic health.

I recently started a new movement, Black Girls Eat. We are a multimedia platform for women of color to have “real talk” about our relationships with food. We are a one stop shop for resources, regarding nutrition, wellness, and living a healthy lifestyle. Black Girls Eats’ mission is to be a movement that inspires, educates, and supports women to be our best selves, beginning with what we put on our forks. I am passionate about making a positive impact on the health of those that struggle with healthy nutritional habits and overall wellness. I am determined to contribute to building strong communities by providing wellness resources for Black Women.

I am a proud Lincoln University Alumna, and attended Howard University for my graduate coursework in Nutritional Science. I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I have a twenty something year old daughter Imani, who is an actor and screenwriter. In my spare time I enjoy grocery shopping, cooking, traveling, collecting artwork, jewelry, and making folks laugh. I recently discovered a love of d’jaying!

#SWYS19 Official Race Announcement - Registration is Open!

Race 13.1 Charlotte registration is open!

Black Girls RUN! is excited to partner with Capstone Event Group and Race 13.1 Charlotte to make this race a national meetup for 2019, but most importantly, the official race for the 2019 BGR! Sweat With Your Sole National Conference/Race Weekend and 10 Year Homecoming Weekend!

This registration is separate from the BGR! conference and is optional to participate.

This is the official race for the BGR! Sweat With Your Sole 10 year homecoming conference weekend!

-Bonus bling will go to all BGR! runners (half & 8k)

-August 12th will be the last day to register and earn bonus bling

They have a required question on the form that asks runners to pick which run club they are affiliated with - we will use this to denote who's running with BGR! rather than a separate registration form in previous years.

The first price increase will be on May 15 (current price through May 14).

Race 13.1 Charlotte half marathon and 8k returns to the Queen City on September 21, 2019! The first 3-4 miles of the course will be on tree-lined streets with gently rolling hills through beautiful residential neighborhoods, and the bulk of the flat and fast course will take place on the picturesque Four Mile Creek Greenway and McAlpine Creek Greenway, with the McAlpine Creek providing quite a beautiful view from the trail! The race will start and finish at Toringdon, in the heart of Ballantyne, with ample parking and great dining options nearby.

From the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, to the great shopping destinations at Ballantyne Village and Southpark Mall, the state's largest city has a lot to offer for a variety of interests. Runners will have plenty of opportunities for fun before and after the race!
