Are you ready to Sweat With Your Sole this year? For the last six years, we have hosted a two-day event in Atlanta, Charlotte and Philadelphia featuring a conference and 5K/10K race. This annual event has grown into a highly anticipated and popular healthy living event. In 2018, we hosted an 11 city tour with fitness events across the country.

In 2019, we are headed back to Charlotte, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and have another spectacular event. The conference will combine a perfect balance of mental and physical wellness. It will be a completely memorable experience, so invite your entire crew for an event you do not want to miss!


Black Girls RUN! is excited to partner with Capstone Event Group and Race 13.1 Charlotte to make this race a national meetup for 2019, but most importantly, the official race for the 2019 BGR! Sweat With Your Sole National Conference/Race Weekend and 10 Year Homecoming Weekend!



 Race 13.1 Charlotte half marathon and 8k returns to the Queen City on September 21, 2019! The first 3-4 miles of the course will be on tree-lined streets with gently rolling hills through beautiful residential neighborhoods, and the bulk of the flat and fast course will take place on the picturesque Four Mile Creek Greenway and McAlpine Creek Greenway, with the McAlpine Creek providing quite a beautiful view from the trail! The race will start and finish at Toringdon, in the heart of Ballantyne, with ample parking and great dining options nearby. 

From the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and the Charlotte Motor Speedway, to the great shopping destinations at Ballantyne Village and Southpark Mall, the state's largest city has a lot to offer for a variety of interests. Runners will have plenty of opportunities for fun before and after the race!

Where is the race?
The race is in Charlotte, NC, and will start and finish at Toringdon (3420 Toringdon Way, Charlotte, NC).

What day is the race, and when does it start? 
The race is on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The official start time for the half marathon will start at 7:00am and the 8k will be 7:15am.

Race Day Timeline:

  • 5:15am-6:15am - Race Day packet pick-up and registration

  • 7:00am - Half Marathon starts

  • 7:15am - 8k starts 

  • 9:00am - 8k overall awards will be announced and age group awards can be picked up at the Race 13.1 Customer Service tent.

  • 10:00am - Half Marathon overall awards will be announced and age group awards can be picked up at the Race 13.1 Customer Service tent.

How many participants are allowed in each event? 

Half Marathon: 1,500
8k: 1,500

Will participants receive any merchandise?
Each racer will receive a tech t-shirt- Stay tuned for the design! We will offer both men’s and women’s size shirts. All participants will also receive access to numerous Event Deals. A link to view and claim the Event Deals will be emailed out prior to the race and can be found on the race page. If you choose to register at packet pick-up on race day, we cannot guarantee a race t-shirt. They will be available to race day registrants on a first come, first serve basis while quantities last.

Will there be medals for participants?
All half marathon finishers will receive a 3.5" finishers medal! Stay tuned for the design!

Weather/Cancelation Policy
We will do all we can to make sure each of our races is produced as planned, but runner safety is always our top priority. If we have to cancel a race because of weather or circumstances outside our control, refunds will not be issued. 

Will there be professional photographers and photos for purchase? 
Yes, professional photographers will be on site for the race and will provide photos for purchase.

Is there a time limit?
Yes, both distances must complete the race by 10:30am.

Will there be awards?
Awards will be given to male and female overall and age group winners based on chip time. Overall 8k awards will be presented at 9:00am and half marathon awards will be presented at 10:00am, all age group awards may be claimed at the Race 13.1 Customer Service tent following the awards presentations. Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out. 

Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up.

Elite Athletes
An elite athlete may receive one comp entry if he or she meets the standards listed below:

  • Time standards: 1:14:00 for males and 1:28:00 for females.

  • Time standards must be met in the the 12 months preceding the race date.

  • Runners must have proof of their time. Email for details.

  • Race 13.1 reserves the right to adjust time standards at any time.

  • All elite athlete requests must be submitted at least 10 days prior to race day to

What do I need to wear to this event?

Workout/fitness gear, sneakers and comfortable clothing is your best bet. You will be running/walking, moving, sweating and we want you to be able to participate 100%. Attendees are encouraged to dress up for the awards dinner and homecoming party.

What do I  need to bring with me to the event?

Please bring a yoga mat, towel and water.

Will there be a photographer there?

Can I receive a refund for my ticket if I am unable to attend?

There are no refunds for this event.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else if I am unable to attend?

Yes, the person attending in your place can give us your name at registration. If you are unable to attend the race, you must contact Race 13.1 directly.

Race 13.1 Charlotte is the official race for the #SWYS19 weekend; however, race registration is separate from the conference registration. The race events are not mandatory to participate.  REGISTER HERE for Race 13.1 (Register before August 10th for additional medal).
